Allocalicium

Monotypic.

Allocalicium is a new genus constructed to distinguish Calicium adaequatum, which Prieto & Wedin (2017) found to be more closely related to Tholurna dissimilis than to other Calicium.  Unfortunately, the two were not merged into a single genus as I had long expected, because it would either be paraphyletic or surprisingly require inclusion of Thelomma occidentale and T. ocelatum.  Like T. dissimilis, C. adaequatum grows on twigs where it directly intercepts rain and dew (no other Calicium grows in such sites); it has stalks that are often pale and sometimes even textured like a miniature T. dissimilis; and the spores are virtually identical between the two species.
